Carlos Zalve appointed to new role of Director of Interactive Media Content at mirada.

22nd October 2009, London, UK - mirada, the audiovisual content interaction specialist today announces the appointment of Carlos Zalve to the newly created position of Director of Interactive Media Content. He joins mirada as the company moves to rapidly exploit its interactive services with broadcasters and programme makers around the world.

mirada's solutions have now been adopted by Red Bee media for the BBC, and Channel 4 in the UK, where it is delivering interactive functions that allow the viewer greater control of, and involvement with the content, as well as ITV's Bingo Night Live, for which the company holds a Guinness World Record for the most amount of concurrent players of TV Bingo.

Zalve has held senior executive positions in the interactive television sector since 1991, pioneering interactive kids TV shows that were sold into a range of European, South American, Asian and U.S markets. These included "Hugo the TV Troll" series of interactive games, and "Throat & Neck", an interactive live TV show that included real time animation, which he produced for MTV Brazil and Sony's Game Show Network. In addition, Zalve is an experienced TV producer and has been responsible for over 1,000 shows equating to approximately 800 hours of live TV, across seven territories.

Prior to joining mirada, Zalve was at leading middleware provider Open TV where he was country manager for Iberia.
Zalve will report to mirada CEO, Jose Luis Vazquez who said; "Carlos' wide-ranging experience in television has exposed him to the way producers think and plan programmes. Combining this with his knowledge of interactive technologies means he can communicate with both engineers and broadcasters, and translate what we know is possible from a technology perspective to broadcasters in a language they understand."

"The broadcast industry recognises TV shows need to be created differently today than they did 10 years ago. But many producers aren't aware of the new technical features available that would give viewers a more interactive and social experience, and that would suit the production of new content and formats more suited to the 21st century way of consuming audiovisual production," commented Zalve, "Producers need to be educated about what's possible across the TV, internet and phone mirada is one of the few companies that has truly mastered all platforms, mobile web and interactive TV, and is able to syncronise between them." mirada's solutions provide a number of ways for broadcasters to effectively monetise viewer interactions across these platforms. It's a compelling proposition for the TV industry and one I'm looking forward to implementing."
