About Mirada
Mirada is a leading provider of cutting-edge digital TV technology, committed to future-proofing the platforms of operators and broadcasters worldwide.
MIRADA’S STORY

Recently graduated Telecoms Engineer, José Luis, founded Fresh IT from his living room with a handful of friends on 22nd May 2000. With their shared aim to provide cutting-edge interactive services for TV Operators and Broadcasters, by that summer Fresh IT had already moved into their first office at Ciudad de la Imagen, the ‘Media City’ of Madrid.

Shortly after settling into the new office, Fresh IT won their first major client, Canal Satelite Digital – today part of Telefonica. Before the Nokia 3310 had even been released, the small team of graduates were providing interactive services including email access from the TV!

Having successfully served their first clients in Spain, it was time for the company to spread their wings. Fresh IT’s first international client was Sky in the UK, for whom they provided interactive games and the first chat on TV in the world, ‘Quiero Chat’.

As Fresh IT’s interactive services continued attracting the interest of clients including Jazztel and Orange, the ever-expanding team moved to larger offices in east Madrid.

In February 2008, Fresh IT merged with British digital entertainment company YooMedia to form Mirada, with José Luis becoming Group CEO on 25th February. Mirada opened headquarters in London as well as a technical centre in Exeter, before relocating the Spain office to an award-winning business centre in southeast Madrid.

Mirada won their first project in Latin America in August 2009 with the Uruguayan government to provide subscribers with free access to information including healthcare and long distance learning across three cable TV networks.

Having increased their focus on Latin America, Mirada won exciting contracts with both Brazilian operator GVT (2010) and Mexico’s Axtel (2011) for the browser-based user interface, Navi.

As Mirada’s client base continued to grow, so did the team of experts. In September 2011, Mirada expanded the Madrid office to the amazing views of the top floor to accommodate everyone!

Mirada secured another deal in Latin America – this time for the company’s newly launched E2E product – Iris. Mexican operator Cablecom selected Iris for its versatility, its new, powerful backend platform Iris SDP and its attractive Origin UI.

On 19 May 2014, Mirada was awarded a contract with Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world. Televisa’s pay TV brand, izzi Telecom, would provide content anytime, anywhere to millions of subscribers using Mirada’s entire Iris multiscreen solution.

In February 2015, the first deployment of Mirada’s OTT platform went ahead for Multimedios Monterrey. From that moment on, Multimedios’ customers have been enjoying live and on-demand content on their smartphones and tablets with Mirada’s technology.

4th July saw the largest ever rollout of Mirada’s entire Iris multiscreen solution across 5 different cable networks in Mexico. This marked a pivotal point in the Company’s history, putting Mirada on a level with the most prestigious, multinational competitors.

Just one year after the mighty Mexican rollout of Iris, Mirada won two further contracts with its multiscreen solution. The first was with ATNi to serve its four networks located in the Caribbean and the second with Bolivian operator Digital TV Cable.

Skytel chose Mirada’s Iris multiscreen solution to power their next-generation pay TV service in order to provide their SkyMedia customers in Mongolia with the ultimate viewing experience.

Mirada deployed Iris for One Communications, the leading telecommunications provider in Bermuda, allowing their subscribers to watch live and cloud DVR content across all devices with the full Inspire experience.

Mirada deployed Iris for Viya, a leading communications and entertainment provider in the US Virgin Islands, delivering linear and on-demand content to internet connected media players, iOS, Android devices and web clients.

Mirada launched Iris for Zapi, a new OTT-based Pay TV platform for Plataforma Multimedia de Operadores (“PMO”) in Spain. The launch of the new OTT service, known as “Zapi”, allows PMO’s subscribers to watch the content with a cutting-edge viewing experience across Android TV-based set-top boxes, laptops, Android & iOS smartphones and tablets, and a wide range of smart TVs such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips, HiSense and many more.
