Mirada develops digital TV services for a wide range of platforms, deployed worldwide by leading pay TV platform operators and broadcasters to deliver innovative digital TV applications including: Electronic Program Guides, Video On Demand, Pay Per View and Catch Up TV services, Content Discovery, Search and Recommendations, Multiscreen applications and Synchronised interactive services.

We are looking for a talented developers to join our team in Exeter to implement Java components and microservices within our back-end solution. At Mirada, you will find a place where you can develop your professional career in the Digital TV Sector amongst a young and dynamic team of experts.

What you will be doing:

The Java Developer is responsible for implementing Java web application server and Javascript website components within our suite of digital TV products.

  • Technical design of components/solutions
  • Generation of code and associated unit tests
  • Collaboration with other developers and development resources (Product, UX, QA, Operations)
  • Integration of components into the entire application
  • Issue analysis and resolution
  • Performance benchmarking and tuning

What we are looking for:
  • BA/BSc degree in Computer Science/ ICT or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in java development in a web application context
  • Demonstrable exposure to development tools (e.g. Eclipse) and code version control tools (e.g. CVS/Mercurial/Git)
  • Knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, (Oracle) Database, Webservices and Hibernate
  • Availability to travel and discover new work environments in other countries
  • Good social and communication skills

What we would love:
  • Previous experience on build automation systems (e.g. Gradle, Maven, ANT
  • Rabbit MQ knowledge
  • NoSQL databases knowledge
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Experience of front-end HTML, CSS or Ember web application framework
  • Previous experience on continuous integration systems (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Other foreign languages, especially Spanish, would be a plus
