Sandra del Busto, DevOps Engineer

The first thing I do when I arrive at the office is sit down together with the others from my department to catch up on and discuss the tasks that each of us are currently working on. After that, there’s always time for a morning coffee as a relaxed way to share ideas and opinions.

Back in the office after breakfast, I open the Incident Management Tool to check if anyone is in need of urgent help. If I’m lucky and everybody seems to be okay, I catch up on my emails and organise the day ahead.

I write a checklist on a ‘whiteboard’ (a.k.a any wall or window nearby) of all the tasks I am currently working on in order of priority. The main objective of our department is to make sure that our platform is stable by offering support with monitoring the network, applications and servers.

From recovering lost databases to getting the corporate website up and running again if it has crashed, we are always there to solve any problem – apart from when we go for lunch of course! Speaking of lunch, at 2pm I immediately hunt down the guys who are off to eat in the Italian restaurant around the corner! Andiamo!

After a tasty lunch, I head back to the office and dedicate my afternoon to discovering new technologies and ways to optimise processes within our department. This is not only an interesting but also a very important part of my day-to-day life at Mirada, a part which makes our department vital in the process of the company’s product development.
